How do I book a tattoo?
Under normal circumstances, I book up to 6 weeks out at a time through my inquiry form. Updates will be posted on my Instagram (@dawn.tattoos) Email is preferable for questions.
*If you’re planning to travel from out of state to get tattooed, let me know about 2 months beforehand via email so that I can try my best to find a timeslot that will work with your travel plans!

Favorite things to tattoo vs. least favorites?
What I love or am interested in tattooing: Large scale single species floral/botanical, animals, big cats (tigers, cheetahs, all except lions), ladies/lady heads, portraits, pets, bugs, reptiles, large birds, fish, skulls/bones, vases, fish/marine life, interesting objects, ornamental patterns/folk art, woodcut, traditional motifs and illustrative realism
What I’m not interested in tattooing: quotes/script/text, anything geometric, most landscapes, trees, mountains, space-themed pieces, mandalas, bouquets/floral pieces with more than 2 types of flowers, color tattoos, copies of other tattooers’ work, tiny tattoos, and minimalist tattoos

How does pricing work?
My minimum is $200. I generally charge by the piece rather than by the hour. For large work that takes 3 hours or more I charge $200/hour.
For everything else, I charge by size, placement, difficulty of the design, and time tattooing. We can discuss a price range when you inquire as well. Usually my work comes out to around $250-350 for palm size and about $400-600 for hand size tattoos, unless the tattoo falls into the micro-realistic/fineline style as they take a long time to finish. Portraits start at $500 and range from $500-1100.

Are appointments first-come-first-served?
No. I book based on what I’m most interested in tattooing. Take a peek at my work on Instagram to get an idea of what I enjoy tattooing. I only respond to inquiries that I am able to schedule. I generally respond within 10 days. Flash is the only exception. I always say yes to flash requests and they are first come first served!
-
If I don't hear back after inquiring, can I send the same idea again in the future?
Yes! I take a fraction of requests each month. If you aren’t chosen it may be because of a wide range of factors (ex. availability, too many requests for the same thing (like snakes and wildflowers), not something I’m interested in tattooing (see above)). If you request the same thing 3 times and don’t get an appointment, I recommend requesting a different idea.
-
What happens when I get offered an appointment?
I will email you with a link to my calendar where you can see all of my current availability. Dates open on a 6 week rolling basis. You will have to pay a $100 nonrefundable/nontransferable deposit to secure your appointment. You are not scheduled until I receive a deposit.
-
How does the deposit work?
The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. It holds your time slot and gets deducted from the final cost of the tattoo. You may be asked for a larger deposit for larger tattoos. If you arrive over 15 minutes late, your deposit will not be deducted from the cost of your tattoo, and there is a chance you will have to be rescheduled and put down another deposit to do so. If you need to reschedule within 48 hours of your appointment, you will also have to put down another deposit to do so. Lastly, If you no-call, no-show, you will not be able to re-book. Deposits expire after 1 year. You may reschedule up to 3 times.
-
Can I see the design before my appointment?
I don’t show designs until your appointment time to avoid having my custom work copied. Changes may be made then and time is alloted to do so for every appointment. If you want a full re-draw, we may have to reschedule. It’s possible that you will have to put down another deposit if your requested changes vary dramatically from your original idea. Please be succinct, and specific with what you want in your inquiry. If you change your tattoo concept completely after paying a deposit, your appointment may be cancelled if the new one is not something I’m interested in tattooing.

How do flash tattoos work?
Check my Instagram highlights for pre-drawn designs that you can get tattooed.
Some of these will only be tattooed on one person, and some will be re-used. In the case of the former, I will remove the flash once claimed. Flash prices depend on size and placement, but are generally priced the same (or lower) as detailed above.
Flash ALWAYS takes priority for appointments over custom work.

What if I want a touch-up?
Touch-ups are always free within the first 18 months after your tattoo. After that, I charge a $50 setup fee so please try to schedule a touch-up within a year and a half of your tattoo if needed. Feel free to email me at any time to schedule one.
-
Do you do coverups?
Occasionally yes, but only if the client is willing to potentially see remnants of the tattoo underneath as my work involves a lot of open skin/negative space. You must be willing to get something significantly larger, be flexible on the subject matter, and realistic about the outcome. Otherwise, I will recommend a few laser removal sessions before doing a coverup.
-
Do you do consults?
Normally, I just consult via email by having clients send a photo of the body part they want tattooed with the area circled and inspiration/references if they have any. If you wish to get a sleeve, torso, full leg, full back, or cover-up I prefer an in-person consult. You are always welcome to request a consult if you wish to have one and we can go from there. :)
